Training:

Remember pre-season will be all about skill and team play so you need to be doing the cardio work in your own time. The following is a good work out you can do to get some running time into the legs and lungs.

Week 1: Day 1. Run 5 minutes from home. Mark the spot. Rest for 1 minute then run home. Day 2 and 3 run to the same spot, minute rest then run home.

Week 2: Day 1. Run 10 minutes from home. Mark the spot. Rest for 1 minute then run home. Day 2 and 3 run to the same spot, Minute rest then run home.

Week 3: Day 1 Run to spot that you did on day 1 week 1. Minute rest, then time yourself to run home. Record your time.

Day 2 and 3 do the same. Hopefully your run home should be less than 5 minutes.

Week 4: Day 1. Run 15 minutes out. Mark the spot. Minute rest. Run home. Day 2 and 3 run to the same spot.

Week 5: Day 1. Run to spot that you did on day 1 week 1. Rest then sprint home. Repeat for day 2 and 3. Record time. You should see a massive improvement from the week 1 day 1 time.
